This series follows the author’s reading of Edward Harrison’s book, Cosmology: The Science of the Universe. It explores the history and development of cosmology (the study of our Universe), from its roots in early mythology, through the middle ages and Victorian era, right up to the present day science of physical cosmology. The series looks into the science, philosophy and quite often the theological and metaphysical questions that arise as a result of the human encounter with the cosmos. Many of the posts are filled with open-ended questions – allowing the reader to continue pondering these issues and to come to their own conclusions.
